The PanOgston Forum is a new group aimed at all who use Ogston Reservoir, from the members of Ogston Bird Club, to Derbyshire Angling Club, those who sail on it in Ogston Sailing Club and the newly formed Ashover Light Railway Society, with the goal of bringing together all who use the avaliable facilities.
You don't have to be a current member of these organizations to join our forum we welcome past, present and potential future members along with those who enjoy open events there.
Ogston Introduction
Construction began on Ogston Res back in the 1950s, which unfortunately meant the flooding of the Ashover Light Railway's Trackbed and the Village of Woolley Moor. However in 1960 Ogston SC was founded as the first drinking water res Sailing Club in the country, since then Derbyshire Angling Club and Ogston Bird Club have also made use of this stretch of water. The reservoir itself has been designated as a SSSI meaning that its value to wildlife is of national importance, with a National Nature Reserve adjacent to the site.
Now the future for the PanOgston groups looks even brighter with the foundation of the Ashover Light Railway Society aimed at returning narrow gauge engines to the Amber Valley.
